BRIDGEWATER, Va. – The Bridgewater College men's basketball team fell to Guilford 58-41 on Saturday afternoon in ODAC action.

How It Happened
- Landon Hawes knocked down the opening bucket from beyond the arc to give Bridgewater an early 3-0 lead one minute in. Tyler Dearman answered a few possessions later, taking a rebound coast to coast to put the Quakers on the board. Dearman's bucket started a 16-0 run for Guilford that lasted over eight minutes until Hawes knocked down a pair of free throws cutting the lead back down to 11 at 16-5. Joseph Crenshaw worked his way inside and scored while drawing a foul for a chance at a three-point play. Crenshaw made the free throw to put the Eagles back within three possessions at 16-8 with 8:46 to go in the half.
- The Quakers closed the half on a 17-10 run including three baskets from beyond the arc to take a 33-18 advantage into the intermission.
- The two schools opened the second half trading buckets as Dearman drilled a three-pointer to open the frame and Shod Smith answered for BC with a bucket of his own. Following the Smith basket Guilford stretched its lead with a 9-0 run that was ended by a Taylor Fincham second chance effort in the paint.
- GC pushed the lead out to 30 points with 9:13 to go on an Elijah Bowens three-pointer, but the large lead only lasted 15 seconds before Keiman Dillon found Cooper Hawk on the low block for a layup. Over the final nine minutes Bridgewater outscored Guilford 18-5 led by nine points from Will Dunlap, all from long range.
Match Notes
- Dearman led all players with 15 points and 11 rebounds for a double-double. Dunlap led BC in scoring with 10 points after sinking three of his last four shots.
- Dunlap and Liam Caswell both totaled a team high six rebounds and Smith accounted for a game high five assists and three steals.
- Guilford held a 49-34 advantage in rebounds including 16-8 on the offensive end.
- Turnovers were relatively even with BC totaling just two more at 19-17, but Guilford was able to secure 18 points off of turnovers compared to just eight for Bridgewater.
- Dunlap scored in double figures for the first time in his career and played a career high 29 minutes.
