How It Happened
  • Landon Hawes knocked down the opening bucket from beyond the arc to give Bridgewater an early 3-0 lead one minute in. Tyler Dearman answered a few possessions later, taking a rebound coast to coast to put the Quakers on the board. Dearman's bucket started a 16-0 run for Guilford that lasted over eight minutes until Hawes knocked down a pair of free throws cutting the lead back down to 11 at 16-5. Joseph Crenshaw worked his way inside and scored while drawing a foul for a chance at a three-point play. Crenshaw made the free throw to put the Eagles back within three possessions at 16-8 with 8:46 to go in the half.
  • The Quakers closed the half on a 17-10 run including three baskets from beyond the arc to take a 33-18 advantage into the intermission.
  • The two schools opened the second half trading buckets as Dearman drilled a three-pointer to open the frame and Shod Smith answered for BC with a bucket of his own. Following the Smith basket Guilford stretched its lead with a 9-0 run that was ended by a Taylor Fincham second chance effort in the paint.
  • GC pushed the lead out to 30 points with 9:13 to go on an Elijah Bowens three-pointer, but the large lead only lasted 15 seconds before Keiman Dillon found Cooper Hawk on the low block for a layup. Over the final nine minutes Bridgewater outscored Guilford 18-5 led by nine points from Will Dunlap, all from long range.
