How It Happened
- The WildCats opened the game with a 5-0 run before Erika Nettles laid it in to put BC on the board. Reagan Maynard got a rebound off the defensive glass and worked it to Nettles in transition for another early bucket to pull BC to within a point. Each team traded buckets before Riley Corcoran knocked down a jumper off of an assist from India Dailey to give Bridgewater its first lead of the night at 8-7.
- Randolph did not fade trading bucket for bucket in the first frame and took the lead for a brief period of time after two made free throws at 13-12. The Eagles answered back in at the buzzer as Jaden Alsberry found Nettles and the graduate student finished at the rim giving Bridgewater a 14-13 lead after 10 minutes.
- Dailey had her moment to shine to start the third quarter. The Richmond, Va. native sank a pair of jumpers including one from downtown for BC to start the quarter on a 5-0 run. The WildCats were held without a field goal for six minutes before Teniyah Crenshaw finally got them on the board, Bridgewater went on to outscore Randolph 12-5 in the quarter after Corcoran added five of her own and Alsberry knocked down a pair from the charity stripe to give the Eagles a 26-18 lead at the intermission.
- To keep the trend going Nettles totaled the first four points of the third quarter as she sunk a pair at the free throw line and laid one in off of the glass to stretch the BC lead to double digits at 30-18. Randolph responded with a 4-0 run of its own, but Dailey worked inside for two to stretch the lead back to 10. Jay Garcia knocked down two free throws in the final minute of the frame stretching the lead to the largest of the night at 40-24. Randolph was able to try and flip the momentum at the horn as Kylie Stark drained a three-pointer to make it 40-27 heading into the final 10 minutes.
- Alsberry hit a jumper to open the frame after Abby Freeman was able to keep the possession going with an offensive rebound. Crenshaw responded with five of her own to give the Randolph crowd a spark before Dailey nailed a three-pointer for Bridgewater to stretch the lead back out to 47-32. Abby Branner dialed it up from long range with 6:56 to go to stretch the lead back out to 16 but then the WildCats began to slowly chip away. Randolph went on a 9-0 run following the Branner three-pointer until Jasmyn Pierce made two free throws for the Eagles. The WildCats were able to cut the lead to just five points with 1:39 to go but the Wildcats needed to foul. Corcoran was able to make the front end of two shots but missed the second. BC secured the offensive rebound as it went out of play off of a Wildcat. Randolph could not get a field goal to fall over the final 90 seconds resulting in the BC victory.
