BRIDGEWATER, Va. – The Bridgewater College men's basketball team picked up a 77-67 win on day one of the Carlyle Whitelow Invitational Friday night.

How It Happened
- The Lions jumped out in front early, taking a 7-5 advantage just under three minutes in. Landon Hawes gave the Eagles their first lead of the contest as he nailed a three-pointer to give BC a 8-7 edge.
- Bridgewater did not look back extending the lead to double digits as Alec Topper slammed it home off of a good pass from Andy Pack to make it 24-14 BC. Hawes added a layup just before the break to give the Eagles a 31-19 advantage at the half.
- Albright went on a 4-0 run to start the second half, but Bridgewater had the answer yet again as the Eagles widened their lead to the largest of the night as Topper found Pack who nailed a jumper from beyond the arc making it 44-24 in favor of the home team with 16 minutes left to play.
- Despite the early BC surge, Albright slowly crawled their way back into the game getting the lead down to nine with just over four minutes left. The next possession, Topper was fouled on his way to the basket and nailed both shots from the charity stripe to take the lead back to double digits.
- The Lions defense struggled to make stops and turn them into points in the final four minutes. Mikey Ayala made a free throw with minute left to give BC a 76-62 advantage before the Lions and Eagles traded buckets to close out the game.
Match Notes
- Hawes totaled a game high 18 points for the Eagles and Pack added 17 of his own. Shod Smith added 14 points and a game high seven assists.
- Zyon Grant led the battle on the glass for the Lions grabbing nine rebounds. Hawes led the way for BC with eight and Aaron Oates added seven.
- Bridgewater saw production from all over the roster with 32 points off of the bench.
- Albright held an advantage in field goal percentage (41.4%) and rebounds (43). Bridgewater was able to gain an advantage at the free throw line knocking down 28 of their 39 attempts.
- A very physical contest featured 55 fouls called between the two sides.
