Men's Basketball Sinks 13 Threes En Route to Win Over Shenandoah

BRIDGEWATER, Va. - Five Eagles scored in double figures while seven made three pointers in Bridgewater men's basketball 97-88 win over Shenandoah on Monday night in Nininger Hall.

The Basics

  • Final Score: Bridgewater 97, Shenandoah 88
  • Records: Bridgewater (8-10, 4-6 ODAC), Shenandoah (3-16, 2-8 ODAC)

How It Happened

  • Shenandoah scored first on a layup to take the 2-0 lead, one that lasted just ten seconds after Zach Hatter sank a jumper for Bridgewater. That would turn out to be the Hornet's only lead of the contest. The visitors came within one point at 12-11 before an Alec Topper three put the Eagles back up 15-11 with just over thirteen minutes to play
  • Bridgewater took their largest lead of the day thus far at 31-21 on a Shod Smith three pointer off a pass from Andy Pack with seven minutes to play and added two more to make it 33-21 on a Pack layup. The Eagle offense continued to roll as they entered the half up 50-34 for their largest halftime lead of the season
  • The Eagles were lights out from the three point range in the second half, shooting 71.4% from the behind the arc. Topper, Mikey Ayala, Matt Ciccone, Pack and Hatter all knocked down a shot from three point range in the final period of play
  • Despite Shenandoah outscoring Bridgewater 54-47 in the period, the first half advantage was enough to secure the win for the Bridgewater at home

Match Notes

  • Pack had a team high 24 points followed by Topper with 19, Smith with 18, Hatter with 14 and Liam Caswell with 12 for a balanced offense
  • Bridgewater grabbed 36 rebounds compared to Shenandoah's 23. Pack also led the charge with eight boards followed by Caswell with six
  • Smtih dished out nine assists to add to his top three ODAC mark with 86 total on the season
  • Ayala and Smith were both a perfect 2-for-2 from three point range while Caswell shot 80% from the field
