Box Score

BRIDGEWATER, Va. - Rashod Smith and Alec Topper both contributed a double-double performances as the Bridgewater College men's basketball team defeated Randolph 84-70 for the Eagles second straight victory.

The Basics

  • Final Score: Bridgewater 84, Randolph 70
  • Records: Bridgewater (6-8, 2-4 ODAC), Randolph (4-12, 1-7 ODAC)

How It Happened

  • After a slow start, Bridgewater took their first lead of the game four minutes in on an Andy Pack three to make it 7-3. Randolph came back to take a 10-9 lead before a 9-2 Bridgewater run featuring a Joseph Crenshaw three pointer and layups from Smith and Topper put BC back up 18-12
  • Randolph cut the Bridgewater lead to three to force a timeout. A Pack three directly out of the timeout put the Eagles back up 21-15. The visitors went on a 12-6 run to tie the game at 27-27 with four minutes remaining in the half and took the 29-27 edge on made free throws.
  • The Eagles used successful trips to the charity stripe themselves along with a Smith layup and Topper three to enter the locker room up 36-31 at the half.
  • The WildCats tied the game at 42-42 six minutes into the second frame, but would not come any closer to catching the Eagles. Bridgewater had an answer for every Randolph attack and took their largest lead of the game on an emphatic Aaron Oates dunk to go up 68-58 with six minutes remaining
  • Pack and Liam Caswell both sunk three pointers in the final minutes to seal Bridgewater's second straight victory at home
