Alsberry, Nettles Post Double-Doubles in ODAC Victory

BRIDGEWATER, Va.Jaden Alsberry and Erika Nettles both contributed double-doubles in Bridgewater women's basketball 79-53 victory over ODAC foe Ferrum on Saturday in Nininger Hall.

The Basics

  • Final Score: Bridgewater 79, Ferrum 53
  • Records: Bridgewater (6-5, 3-1 ODAC), Ferrum (4-11, 2-6 ODAC)

How It Happened 

  • Ferrum took an early 8-1 lead three minutes into the game until back-to-back buckets by Mary Ruth Shifflett and an Erin Dietz three brought the Eagles within two at 11-9
  • A Nettles layup tied the game at 11-11 as Bridgewater to spark the momentum for a 20-16 edge at the end of the first quarter
  • The Eagles went nearly three minutes without a basket to open the second quarter, giving the Panthers an opportunity to come within one at 24-23. A Shifflett jumper put the Eagles back up 26-23, and a Reagan Maynard layup and three pointer on back-to-back possesions put Bridgewater up eight at 31-23. Layups by Alsberry, Nettles and Diamond Huskey help send the Eagles to the locker room up 37-26 at the half
  • Bridgewater successfully balanced the offense in the third quarter with Alsberry, Nettles, Mya Olmeda and Noelle Horton all posting at least three points
  • The Eagles had their best offensive quarter in the fourth, posting 25 points led by India Dailey with seven. Bridgewater grabbed 15 rebounds in the final frame to help secure the win

Match Notes

  • Nettles paced the Eagles with 16 points, 13 rebounds and two assists, while Alsberry contributed 14 points, a game high 14 rebounds and three assists
  • Shifflett, Dailey, and Maynard all posted nine points with Shifflett adding four assists and three steals, both game highs
  • The Eagles had 15 assists compared to the Panthers six while also picking up 25 points off of Ferrum's 23 turnovers
  • Horton was a perfect 3-for-3 from the field with seven points
