BRIDGEWATER, Va. - The Bridgewater College volleyball team fell in four sets to visiting Christopher Newport in four sets on Wednesday night in Nininger Hall.

The Eagles came out with energy in the first set, holding a four-point lead through the majority of the set. CNU came back to tie the set at 24 all to push extra points. Bridgewater followed through on the early lead behind back-to-back kills from Lisa O'Grady and Ashley Casey to take the 26-24 win and the 1-0 lead.

The Captains bounced back with authority in sets two and three holding the Eagles to 15 points or less in both sets.

Determined to make a run, the Eagles played point-for-point with the Captains in the fourth, coming within three points at 23-20 but ultimately could not force a fifth set.

O'Grady paced Bridgewater with 11 kills followed by Casey with 8. Jessica Bissmeyer record a new career-high from the back row with 20 digs. Her previous career-high of 16 digs was set less than a week ago against Marymount. Grace Hayes posted 30 assists.

The Eagles now move to 3-1 on the year. Bridgewater returns to the court this weekend at the W&L Invitational where they will face Southern Virginia, Berry and Marietta.
