Box Score BRIDGEWATER, Va. - The Bridgewater Eagles dropped an 8-2 decision Tuesday to 13th-ranked Shenandoah in ODAC baseball action.
Shenandoah took the lead in the top of the first on Keegan Woolford's solo homer and never trailed. The homer was the first of two solo shots on the day for the Hornets' first baseman.
Shenandoah scored three runs in the third inning to lead 4-0 and Woolford's second homer in the fifth inning made it 5-0.
The Eagles got on the board in the bottom of the fifth. Timothy Hopson singled with one out, moved to second on a wild pitch and advanced to third on a goundout. Hopson scored on an infield error to trim the deficit to 5-1.
Bridgewater closed the gap with another run in the seventh. Jarret Biesecker walked to lead off the inning and took second on a groundout. With two outs, Hunter Clever legged out an infield single and when the throw to first got past the first-baseman, Biesecker scored to pull the Eagles to within 5-2.
Shenandoah put the game away with two runs in the eighth and one in the ninth for the final 8-2 margin.
The Eagles will face another nationally-ranked team this Saturday when they entertain No. 14 Randolph-Macon for a doubleheader.
