Hundredth of a Second Separates Marlins and Eagles in Dual Meet

BRIDGEWATER, Va. – The Bridgewater College men's swimming team lost by the finest of margins on Saturday in Nininger Pool, falling 79-72 to Virginia Wesleyan.

The Eagles were within a hundredth of a second of overturning that result, as the Marlins' Caleb Royce (1:04.87) edged Benjamin Dillon (1:04.88) in the 100 fly for the nine points.

It was Senior Day for Dylan Shannon, who teamed with Dillon, Tito Alcazar and Ben Williams for a school record time of 10:21.33 in the 800 meter free relay. It was Shannon's fourth relay school record set this season, and fifth program mark overall.

Ryan Cunningham also set a school record in winning the 400 IM with a time of 5:03.15.

Cunningham also won the 100 free (1:00.40) and 400 free (4:36.08), while Sean Cunningham claimed the 100 breaststroke (1:18.09).

The Eagles conclude their dual meet schedule with a record of 4-10, 2-5 ODAC and will now prepare for their third ODAC championship meet, February 6-9 in Greensboro, N.C.
