BRIDGEWATER, Va. – Transition goals were the difference as the Bridgewater College men's lacrosse team fell 10-7 to Randolph-Macon on Friday afternoon.

Blake Mann scored four times for the Eagles, who also got a pair of goals from Eric Husselbaugh. Jake Truman led the defense with two caused turnovers.

The Yellow Jackets took a 5-2 lead in the second period, and 6-5 lead at the break, by hitting the Eagles quickly in transition.

Randolph-Macon went ahead 3-2 late in the first quarter by scoring twice on the counterattack in a span of 25 seconds. Matt Surock struck with the long pole on the clear; Colin DiSesa then also scored on a clear immediately afterwards.

Ryan Tiffey scored with an assist from faceoff man Jack Silvernale 16 seconds into the second quarter, again catching the Eagles down numbers after BC nearly won the ground ball themselves.

Husselbaugh tied the game at 6-6 in the third, right after an RMC penalty cleared. Brendan Markovic scored right after a successful clear following a Husselbaugh shot that was saved however.

Randolph-Macon then made it 8-6 when Ryan Tiffey intercepted a Scott Tucker pass on the clear and fed a wide open Alex Camilliere.

With 9:02 left in the game and the Eagles down three, Mann was slashed twice on the same play but still scored to make it 9-7. RMC goalie Chris Cerrina made a crucial low save on the ensuing 2-minute man-advantage.

The Eagles had held the ball for nearly three minutes to open the game, before defenseman Austin Evans caused a turnover with a big hit on Mann.

Husselbaugh opened the scoring on a nice solo move, capping it with a shot up high on the crease dive. Mann then made it 2-0 with a daring flip shot, off Sean MacLeish's assist.

The Eagles were unlucky to concede their first goal with 5:59 remaining in the opening period. Kevin Metzger appeared to save Camilliere's shot, but it bounced behind him and just over the line.

Bridgewater falls to 8-4, 2-3 ODAC. Randolph-Macon, who has been on fire recently with three straight double-digit wins over Marymount, Virginia Wesleyan and Methodist, is 7-6, 2-3.
