BRIDGEWATER, Va. – The Bridgewater College women's lacrosse team ran away in the second half from a team that defeated them in overtime last year, beating Marymount 18-9.

Sophomore Dwyer Neal scored the first three goals of the second half.

She picked up a ground ball after Shannon Rogers forced a turnover on the clear and scored to make it 9-6 BC. She completed a hat trick 40 seconds later, and then scored a man-up goal with 21:31 remaining to put the Eagles ahead 11-6.

The Eagles scored three straight in a 71-second span later in the second half, getting goals from Kristen Stark, Kayla O'Sullivan and Rogers to go ahead 15-7.

Neal, Stark and Anna O'Hara each had four goals to lead the Bridgewater attack. Sarah Yashinskie added a hat trick, while Rogers scored twice and had two assists.

O'Sullivan had five caused turnovers, five ground balls and seven draw controls to lead the Eagles on defense and in the midfield. Yashinskie also had seven draw controls, while Neal picked up five ground balls.

On the game's first possession, Neal battled for a loose ball to keep the chance alive, and Rogers fed Yashinskie to open the scoring. Marymount won the ensuing draw, but Mikaela Brooks saved a free position chance by Jessica Crew.

Stark was saved on a free position with the game tied 1-1, but Neal stripped the goalie on the clear and Stark converted on the possession to take back the lead.

O'Hara scored a shorthanded eight-meter after a Neal yellow card to make it 3-1. Neal then had a shot that was partially blocked by the goalie, but bounced just over the line for a 4-1 Eagles lead.

Yashinskie scored, won a draw control in traffic and, despite two good saves by Marymount goalie Holly Reik, O'Hara soon caused a turnover on the clear and went in all alone for a 6-1 Eagles lead.

MU got two back in 27 seconds, and scored three unanswered altogether, and the teams went into halftime with Bridgewater up by two.

Bridgewater (5-0) remains undefeated and will begin conference competition next Saturday at Lynchburg, where they have been narrowly eliminated in the past two ODAC playoffs. Marymount falls to 6-2 on the year.
