BRIDGEWATER, Va. - Bridgewater College improved its record to 12-2-1 overall and 5-1-1 in the ODAC with an 8-0 conference victory Tuesday afternoon over Hollins University.

The contest was delayed in the second half for nearly 30 minutes due to an injury and the match was stopped in the 72nd minute due to impending darkness.

The Eagles took the lead in the 10th minute when Morgan Todd passed the ball across the top of the box and Sydney Ryan hit a low, driving shot past the keeper from 20 yards out for a 1-0 Bridgewater lead.

Bridgewater added its second goal a minute later when Bailey Kratz carried the ball into the box and toward the end line. Kratz left a pass back in the box and Todd scored from 6 yards out, making the score 2-0.

The Eagles scored again in the 14th minute. Catherine Haufe took a corner kick and sent the ball into the middle of the box. Hollins was unable to clear the ball out of the box and Cyan Coates cleaned up the loose ball with a shot from in close to make it 3-0.

Bridgewater added its fourth goal in the 31st minute when Kratz scored on a a penalty kick.

The Eagles scored four more times in the second half to finish off the victory.

Bridget Fabiani scored on a penalty kick in the opening minute of the second half to put the Eagles on top 5-0.

The Eagles tallied again in the 50th minute when Hunter Collier dropped a pass back to Ana Elson and the Eagles' freshman hit a low shot just inside the near post from 15 yards out, giving the Eagles a 6-0 lead. 

Two minutes later, Bridgewater struck again. Angel Finch pushed forward from the back and carried the ball to the end line where she crossed a ball into the box. Fabiani was making her run down the middle of the box and touched the ball past the keeper for her second goal of the contest, pushing the margin to 7-0.

The Eagles scored their final goal off a corner kick opportunity. Haufe sent the corner into the middle of the box and Cyan Coates headed a shot inside the far post for the final tally of the day.

Bridgewater returns to action Saturday when they travel to Ashland, Va., to play Randolph-Macon College in a crucial ODAC contest. Game time is 11:00 a.m.
