Box Score ROANOKE, Va. - Bridgewater College opened conference play Saturday afternoon with a 17-0 victory at Hollins University. The 17 goals is a new single-game program record, eclipsing the previous mark of 15.
Bridgewater scored the game's first three goals in the opening four minutes to take the lead.
Bailey Kratz scored off an assist from Grayson Mathews to put the Eagles on the board just 1:04 into play. A minute later Keri Rager dribbled to the left corner and crossed the ball into Anna Sobus for the goal, making the score 2-0. The Sobus-Rager duo connected again for a 3-0 Eagles lead just 3:33 into the first half.
Kratz, Sobus, Janidy Madera, Ashton Eicher and Bridget Fabiani each scored two goals to lead the offense. Sobus now has eight goals to lead the Eagles this season while Krazt pushes her season total to three goals. Madera, Eicher and Fabiani scored their first goals of the season.
Mathews, Rager and Rachel Bullard finished the contest with two assists each. Bullard and Rager also tallied goals for the Eagles.
In addition to Eicher and Bullard, four other Bridgewater freshmen scored the first points of their careers. Taylor Dugger recorded one goal and one assist for three points. Hanna Moser and Sydney Davis each netted a goal and Cyan Coates dished out an assist.
Morgan Todd scored her first goal of the season and senior Jessica Bergan added the first goal of her career to round out the goal scoring for Bridgewater College.
Davis and Pearson split time in goal for the Eagles with Pearson recording the only save of the game for Bridgewater.
Bridgewater, now 7-1-1 and winner of seven in a row, has a quick turnaround as the Eagles return to action Sunday afternoon at home against Salisbury. Game time is 2:00 p.m.
