GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Bridgewater College women's tennis team stopped in Greensboro, N.C., on its way to spring break and the Eagles picked up a 9-0 victory over Guilford College in ODAC action Saturday afternoon.
The Eagles started the day by sweeping the doubles matches.
Stephanie Barton and Whitney Cash were the first off the court with an 8-1 victory over Makayla McLaurin and Maureen Smith at No. 3 doubles.
Jamiah Lewis and Shannon Quinn blanked Chandler McDonald and Nora Prokosch 8-0 to win at No. 2.
The No. 1 doubles match was the closest of the day as Bridgewater's Whitney Kiser and Nicole Shifflett held off Katie Claggett and Leigh Fishman 8-6 to complete the sweep.
Bridgewater won all six singles matches in straight sets, losing a total of just 10 games.
Barton was first off the court again in singles with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over McDonald at the No. 4 slot. Bridgewater clinched the match when Shifflett downed Fishman 6-0, 6-2 to take the win at No. 3 singles.
Lewis took a 6-1, 6-1 decision over Claggett at the top singles slot and Kiser turned back Prokosch 6-1, 6-2 to win the No. 2 flight. Cash defeated McLaurin at No. 5 and Quinn stopped Smith at No. 6, both winning by identical 6-1, 6-0 scores.
