HILTON HEAD, S.C. - Baldwin-Wallace rallied from a 2-1 deficit after doubles play Wednesday evening to defeat Bridgewater College 6-3 in men's tennis action.
Baldwin-Wallace won at No. 1 doubles where Peter Harris and Doug Ganim stopped Bridgewater's Thomas Rishcoff and Joe Dillenbeck 8-3.
The Eagles evened the score when Kyle Hartfield and Emmett Johnson turned back Kyle Patterson and Dominic Plifrone 8-4 at the No. 2 doubles slot.
Bridgewater took the lead when Freddie Roberts and Nathaniel Horner won at No. 3 doubles, outlasting Kevin Fredrick and Matt Harris 9-7.
Baldwin-Wallace won five of the six singles matches to claim the final 6-3 victory.
Bridgewater's lone singles win came at the No. 6 flight where Horner defeated Brian Carano in split sets. Carano won the first set 6-1, but Horner evened the match by holding on to take the second set 7-5. A tiebreaker was played to determine the winner with Horner prevailing 10-5.
At No. 1 singles, Harris defeated Hartfield 6-3, 6-2 while Ganim turned back Dillenbeck 6-3, 6-0 to win at No. 2.
Patterson defeated Johnson 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3 and Polifrone downed Roberts 6-1, 7-5 at the No. 4 slot. At the No. 5 position, Nathan Katz stopped Bridgewater's Kris Stokes 6-0, 6-0.
