BRIDGEWATER, Va. – The Bridgewater College women's basketball team improved its record to 3-2 after dominating Mary Baldwin, 81-36, on Wednesday evening.
Senior Jessica Lam paced the Eagles with a game-high 24 points and junior Kaitlyn Lehan came off the bench to produce a double-double behind 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Sophomore Tiara Jackson added nine points off the bench, while sophomore Briana Moore filled the box score with seven points, five rebounds, five assists and two steals.
Junior Jessalyn Monday and sophomore Sydni Carey contributed six points each.
Nicole Blackburn led Mary Baldwin (1-5) with 13 points and Aayana Nedd also reached double-digits with 11 points.
The Eagles shot 45.6 percent from the field and won the rebounding battle 49-to-30. Bridgewater registered 33 points off turnovers and had 19 second chance points compared to Mary Baldwin's four.
Lam scored nine of the Eagles first 11 points as Bridgewater opened the contest with an 11-2 advantage.
Lehan sunk a layup at the beginning of the second period to extend the Eagles lead to 26-10. Back-to-back three-pointers from Moore and Lam created a 32-10 margin, and Bridgewater ended the first half with a 41-22 advantage.
The Eagles opened the third period with a 14-3 run to go up 55-25, and kept their foot on the gas pedal through the remainder of the game for the large margin of victory.
The Eagles return to the court with a big road challenge against conference foe Guilford on Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
