Box Score ROANOKE, Va. – Bridgewater College improved to 5-4 overall and 2-1 in the ODAC with a 15-0 victory Saturday afternoon at Hollins University. The 15 goals scored established a new single-game record for the Eagles.
Julia Baca, Keri Rager and Bailey Kratz each recorded a hat trick in the opening half as the Eagles led 13-0 at the break.
Baca put the Eagles on the board in the fifth minute when she took a pass from the left side from Ashley Crossman and found the back of the net for a 1-0 lead.
The Eagles added four more goals in the next five minutes to lead 5-0.
Bridgewater made it 2-0 when Baca found Rager racing down the left side and the BC sophomore converted for her first goal of the game at the 5:36 mark. A minute later defender Alycia Giauque made a long pass through the Hollins defense and Isabella Krider scored for a 3-0 Eagles lead. Krider added an assist in the eighth minute when her pass found Rager for the score, pushing the advantage to 4-0. Another assist from Krider, this one to Kelly Patterson, gave Bridgewater a 5-0 lead just 10 minutes in.
Baca scored the next two goals to complete her hat trick with Patterson assisting on both goals. The Eagles made it 8-0 when Rager dribbled past a defender on the left side and dropped a pass to Grayson Mathews for the goal. Rager completed her hat trick in the 22nd minute with Patterson picking up her third assist to give the Eagles a 9-0 lead.
Kratz scored three goals and added an assist during a 15-minute span to complete the first half scoring. Kratz beat Hollins' defenders with the dribble for a pair of unassisted goals, making the score 11-0. Kratz added her assist when she connected with Krider for a 12-0 lead. Bridgewater added its final goal of the half when Mathews dribbled through the defense and found Kratz open for an easy goal and a 13-0 advantage.
Amber O'Connor had a hand in both Bridgewater scores in the second half. Her shot from the left side curved into the net, making the score 14-0. The Eagles' final score came in the 78th minute when O'Connor's pass from the left found Nikole Blackwell at the back post and the BC senior converted for the final margin.
Baca and Rager have each scored 11 goals on the season to tie for the conference lead in goals scored. Krider's two assists on Saturday pushed her season total to seven, giving her the ODAC assists lead.
Bridgewater returns to action Tuesday when the Eagles travel to Emory & Henry for a conference contest. Game time is 5:00 p.m.
