BRIDGEWATER, Va. – Bridgewater College opened ODAC play Saturday afternoon with a convincing 6-0 victory over Guilford College in ODAC women's soccer action.
The Eagles improved to 4-3 overall and 1-0 in the ODAC while the Quakers dropped to 2-4-1 and 0-1 in the conference.
Bridgewater took the lead for good in the 11th minute of play. Kelly Patterson served a cross into the box where Keri Rager took the ball out of the air with her left foot and booted the shot past Guilford keeper Becca Banks for a 1-0 Eagles lead. The goal was Rager's seventh of the season.
The Eagles increased the lead when a pair of freshmen hooked up for a goal. Isabella Krider found Bailey Kratz with a pass and Kratz found the back of the net for a 2-0 edge with just nine minutes left in the opening half.
Bridgewater put the game away with a four-goal outburst in the second half.
Julia Baca made it 3-0 with a goal in the 54th minute and less than a minute later Baca scored again off an assist from Ashley Crossman, making the score 4-0. The two goals give Baca a total of eight for the season.

The Eagles scored their final goal when Krider dished out her second assist, this one to another freshman. Krider delivered a long pass over the defense to Emily Brummett and the BC freshman converted the breakaway opportunity for her first career goal.

Bridgewater keeper Hayley Talbott finished with two saves and recorded her first shutout of the season.
The Eagles return to action Wednesday when they travel to Lexington, Va., to meet Washington and Lee in a key ODAC contest. Game time is 4:00 p.m.
