Men's Lacrosse Falls at Randolph-Macon

BRIDGEWATER, Va. - The Bridgewater College men's lacrosse team lost on the road Wednesday, dropping a 19-6 decision at Randolph-Macon.

Defender Aaron Kiser caused two turnovers and led the Eagles with four ground balls. Andrew Buss made 14 saves in goal.

Corey Portell and Derrick Daniels had a goal and an assist each.

Rob Simmons struck early for Bridgewater to tie the game at 1-1, but RMC responded with eight unanswered to break the game open.

Blake Mann and Chris Voorhees answered with back to back goals late in the second quarter. Mann broke the school single season goal mark with his 24th of the year and equaled the points record. Simmons has recently set the new assist mark, which currently stands at 12.

Randolph-Macon scored four times in the final 6:13 of the third quarter, with Miles Muncie and Coleman Adams each contributing two points in that span, to go ahead 15-4.

Early in the fourth quarter, Adams assisted Muncie for a 16-4 advantage.

Portell, a freshman, scored his first collegiate goal with 7:10 remaining in the fourth quarter.

Alex Camilliere had four goals for the hosts, while Muncie added a hat trick and two assists. Nick Benhoff picked up 13 ground balls.

Bridgewater falls to 4-9, 0-5 and will be on the road for another ODAC contest on Saturday, at Randolph.

The Eagles took a 7-3 lead in the fourth quarter vs. Randolph last season but were denied their first ODAC victory after the WildCats rallied to win 9-8 in overtime.

After Randolph totaled five unanswered goals in 9:20, Jeff Strickland forced overtime for Bridgewater with a man-up goal in the final seconds. Colton Wood won it in the second extra period for Randolph.

After traveling to Randolph, the Eagles will be back at the Jopson Athletic Complex for their final two home games of the season, vs. Roanoke (Apr. 19) and Shenandoah (Apr. 22).

Randolph-Macon is 5-8, 2-3 and will travel to Hampden-Sydney, who is receiving votes in the USILA national poll, on Saturday.
