Box Score MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - Bridgewater College completed its spring break trip to Myrtle Beach with a perfect 6-0 record by defeating Albertus Magnus, 7-4, on Wednesday.
The Eagles, ranked No. 18 in the D3Basebal.com poll, took the lead with three runs in the bottom of the third inning, but the Falcons knotted the score with three runs in the fifth. Austin Batten stroked a run-scoring single and Ryan Leake added a two-run single to stake the Eagles to a 3-0 lead. The Falcons put together five base hits in the top of the fifth to tie the score at 3-3.
Bridgewater took advantage of two errors and scored three runs in the sixth to regain the lead, 6-3. Derrick Walling delivered a key RBI-single to help the Eagles regain the lead.
After the teams traded runs in the seventh, the Eagles blanked the Falcons over the final two innings to finish off the 7-4 victory.
Kyle Jones worked 2.2 innings in relief to pick up the victory. Steven Woerner worked the eighth inning and Justin Petock pitched the ninth to record the save.
The Eagles, now 10-1 on the season, return to conference play Saturday when they travel to play Virginia Wesleyan. First pitch is set for noon.
