LEXINGTON, Va. - The Bridgewater College volleyball team saw its winning streak come to an end during a 3-0 (13-25, 18-25, 16-25) defeat to conference foe Washington and Lee on the road Friday evening in the Warner Center.

The Eagles (7-13, 3-5 ODAC) recently defeated ODAC opponent Hollins 3-0 at home for their fourth straight win Oct. 13. The team also won two of its last three league matches entering the contest against the Generals (12-10, 7-1 ODAC).

Freshman Danielle McKelvey totaled five kills, freshman Victoria Wilson posted 11 assists and sophomore Macon Frey had 13 digs.

For the Generals, Mackenzie Shand registered 17 kills, Elena West tabbed 36 assists and Katie Volk had 10 digs.

The Generals came out the gate strong, holding the Eagles to six kills and a hitting percentage of .080 in the first set.

A kill from the Generals' West gave the team a 9-3 advantage as they cruised through the first period.

The Generals took another big lead in the second set, 21-8, but the Eagles strung together a 7-0 run to make the set a closer battle.

An attack error from Shand brought the Eagles within five, 23-18. However, the Generals still won the set after back-to-back errors from the Eagles.

In the heart of the third set, Wilson landed a kill to bring the Eagles within one, 13-12. An attack error a few plays later kept the Eagles in the match and trailing by only three points, 19-16.

Nonetheless, the Generals scored six unanswered points to close out the match.

The Eagles continue their road stretch with another ODAC matchup against Shenandoah tomorrow at 11 a.m.
