BRIDGEWATER, Va. – Max Chacon scored two goals and added one assist Saturday afternoon to spark the Bridgewater College Eagles to a 4-0 victory over Emory & Henry in Old Dominion Athletic Conference action.

The victory keeps the Eagles unbeaten in conference play with a 3-0 record. Bridgewater is now 4-6 overall and has won three straight contests and four of its last five. Emory & Henry drops to 3-3-1 overall and 1-2 in conference play.

The Eagles put strong pressure on the Wasps defense in the first 20 minutes, but several offside calls and missed opportunities kept them off the board.

Bridgewater broke the ice in the 22nd minute when Connor Henderson chased down a long ball behind the Wasps defense and carried the ball toward the box. When the E&H keeper committed to stop Henderson, the Eagles freshman slipped pass to Chacon for an open shot and a 1-0 lead.

Bridgewater increased the margin to 2-0 when substitute Avery Walker got into the action. Walker had been in the game less than a minute when he took a crossing pass from Chacon and headed a shot just inside the near post for the goal.

The Eagles added another score with less than a minute left on the first half clock. Ricky Capuano put a pass on the foot of Chacon and the Eagles sophomore forward beat the keeper for his second goal of the half to give the Eagles a 3-0 lead at the break.

Bridgewater added its final goal early in the second half with a pair of freshmen combining for the score. Jake Spiegel served a ball into the box and Henderson converted the shot for his third goal of the season and a 4-0 Eagles lead.

The Eagles finished the contest with a 14-6 edge in shots and a 6-1 advantage in corner kicks. Kevin Morris went the distance in goal for the Eagles and recorded one save to pick up the shutout.

Bridgewater is back in action Wednesday afternoon when the Eagles host Roanoke College in a key ODAC matchup. Both teams will enter the game unbeaten in conference play, each with a 3-0 record. Game time is set for 4:00 p.m.
