Box Score LYNCHBURG, Va. - Nick Corbin and Corey Armentrout, both pitching on short rest, combined to limit Shenandoah to one earned run Sunday afternoon as the Eagles took a 5-2 victory to force a deciding game at the ODAC baseball tournament.
Bridgewater scored two runs in the second and never trailed. Brendan Howell doubled to lead off the frame and with two outs Tyler Hoffman walked. Darren Yoder put the Eagles on the board with a single to right, scoring Howell from second. With runners on the corners, Hoffman stole home on the back end of a double steal for a 2-0 Eagles lead.
The teams traded runs in the fourth to keep the margin at two runs. Zach Hynes doubled to lead off the inning for the Eagles and scored on Hoffman's single for a 3-0 lead.
The Hornets answered in the bottom half of the inning when Nolan Overby tripled to deep center and Michael Paul followed with a double, making the score 3-1.
The Eagles tacked on two insurance runs in the seventh. Fulk led off with an infield single and advanced to third on a wild pickoff attempt. Fulk scored on Bryan Sanderson's triple to right-center, making the score 4-1. Sanderson scored on a wild pitch for a 5-1 Eagles lead.
Corbin pitched the first five innings to pick up the victory, his seventh of the year against just one loss. He allowed one run on seven hits while striking out two. Armentrout finished up for his third save of the season. The lefty worked four innings and allowed one unearned run on two hits. He struck out two and walked one.
Brendan Howell was 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the Eagles 13-hit. Fulk and Hynes added two hits each as every batter in the Eagles lineup recorded at least one hit.
