Box Score GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Bridgewater College Eagles improved to 10-2 overall and 5-1 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) with a 5-0 conference victory Saturday evening in women's soccer action at Guilford College.
The victory was the sixth straight for the Eagles, tying the program record for most consecutive wins in a season.
The Eagles took the lead early when Julia Baca received a pass from the right side from Keri Rager and beat the goalie with her shot for a 1-0 lead at the 13:37 mark.
Bridgewater took advantage of a corner kick opportunity to score its second goal. Michelle Viegas took the corner and put the ball inside the six where Kelly Patterson converted the goal, giving the Eagles a 2-0 lead in the 22nd minute.
The Eagles scored again with just less than two minutes left in the half when Grayson Mathews sent a pass across the box and Alli Shaffer finished with the goal, giving Bridgewater a 3-0 lead at the half.
Anne Cypriano scored two goals in the second half and Paxton Sauerwald assisted on both scores for the final 5-0 margin of victory.
Bridgewater held a 22-5 edge in shots and an 8-1 advantage in corner kicks. Rager put three shots on goal to lead the Eagles attack.
Hayley Talbott went the distance in goal and recorded two saves to post her second shutout of the season. The shutout was the fifth in a row for the Eagles and the ninth of the season. Bridgewater has played 530 consecutive minutes since allowing its last goal.
The Eagles return to action next Saturday when they host Randolph College in an ODAC contest. Game time is 4:00 p.m.
