BRIDGEWATER, Va. - The Bridgewater College men's tennis team rallied from a 2-1 deficit after doubles play Saturday to defeat Virginia Wesleyan 6-3 in ODAC action.

The Eagles claimed just one point in doubles play when Peter Hawkins and Sam Churchill rolled to an 8-1 victory over Donnie Greathouse and Adam Owen in the No. 3 doubles match.

At No. 1 doubles, Bridgewater's Evan Stack and Brandon Larsen fought back from a 7-2 deficit to force a tiebreaker against Drew Tomajczyk and Graham Wilson. The Marlins duo won the tiebreaker 7-5. At No. 2 doubles, Virginia Wesleyan's Spenser Bullock and Tyler Chang downed Christian Lynn and Mike Cable, 8-4, to give the Marlins the lead.

The lead did not last long as the Eagles won the first three singles matches to lead 4-3. Hawkins rolled past Wilson 6-1, 6-3 at No. 1 singles and Larsen took a 6-3, 6-1 win over Tomajczyk at No. 2.

Stack won the first set in a tiebreaker over Bullock and then won the second set 6-2 to claim the win at No. 3 singles.

Needing just one more point to clinch the victory, Churchill turned the trick at No. 6 as he won in straight sets over Greathouse 6-3, 6-4.

Lynn scored the final point for the Eagles with a 6-4, 7-6 decision over Chang at No. 4 singles.

The No. 5 singles match was decided by a tiebreaker after Bridgewater's Cable and the Marlins Tyler Searcy split sets. Searcy won the tiebreaker 12-10 to win the match.

With the victory, the Eagles improve to 10-7 overall and 7-1 in the ODAC.
