Box Score LYNCHBURG, Va. – A well-balanced offense early on for the Bridgewater women's lacrosse team earned them a 15-11 conference win against the Randolph WildCats.
Bridgewater wasted no time as Taylor Chamberlain put away her first goal of the game off a Katie Freeman pass thirty seconds into the game.
The roles flipped as Freeman scored the next goal from a Chamberlain helper with 25:03 on the clock to make the score 2-0.
The WildCats responded with a Danielle Haney free position goal, but Paige Hennessy followed that up by firing a shot past the keeper off a Freeman assist, making the score 3-1 with 22:54 left in the first frame.
With 22:32 on the clock, Carli Bafford went on a 3-0 goal spurt herself. The Westminster, Md. native scored back-to-back unassisted goals before notching a free position goal with 19:10 remaining in the first half, boosting the Eagle lead to 6-1.
Randolph snuck its second shot past goalkeeper Laura Reynolds to cut the lead to 6-2. Hennessy responded with an unassisted tally with 10:08 on the clock.
Freeman notched another goal from a Chamberlain pass, followed by another Hennessy goal to build the lead to 9-2 with 8:07 left in the first half.
The WildCats put away three more goals before heading into the locker room and managed to cut the Eagle lead down to 9-5.
Coming out of the intermission, Randolph worked to continue cutting the lead and scored two more goals, making the score 9-7 with 25:49 remaining in the game.
Chamberlain snuck a Hennessy helper past the keeper to score her second goal of the game with 24:11 left on the clock.
Taylor Klevenz of Randolph scored back-to-back goals to threaten the Eagle lead once again by making the score 10-9, but the Eagles responded with a 3-0 run.
With 16:36 remaining in the second half, Jenna Devilbiss fired a Chamberlain pass to score her only goal of the game. Chamberlain tailed her assist with a goal off a Hennessy pass, followed by another Chamberlain tally from a Freeman helper to boost the Bridgewater lead to 13-9 with 14:24 left in the game.
The WildCats notched another goal before Jordyn Hutchins scored with 8:11 remaining in the second frame.
Randolph scored their final goal of the game with 5:41 remaining and cut the Bridgewater lead to 14-11, but Hennessy scored her last goal off a Hutchins pass to finalize the score at 15-11.
In the cage, Reynolds picked up the win after earning five saves, while the keeper for Randolph, Samantha Fagone, turned away 12 shots in their loss.
Bridgewater doubled Randolph by a 32-17 shot margin and picked up 22 ground balls on the night.
The Eagles' offense was led by two four goal games from Chamberlain and Hennessy, while Bafford chipped in three tallies. Freeman and Chamberlain both dished out three assists apiece.
The WildCats were led by Taylor Klevenz with four goals and Jessica Andersen who dished out two assists.
Bridgewater is back in action this Saturday as they travel to Greensboro, NC to take on the Guilford Quakers. Game time is set for 3 p.m.
