Box Score 2 CLAREMONT, Calif. - Bridgewater College completed its California spring break trip with a pair of losses Thursday as the Eagles dropped games to Ithaca and Cal Lutheran.
In the morning contest, Ithaca used a seven-run outburst in the third inning to take control of the game and the Bombers went on to defeat Bridgewater 15-2.
Ithaca jumped out on top with three runs in the top of the second. The Eagles got one of those runs back in the bottom of the second on a run-scoring hit by Christian Armstrong.
The Bombers then took control of the contest with seven runs in the top of the third. Ithaca then put the game away with five runs in the sixth.
Bridgewater scored its final run in the sixth on an RBI-single by Brendan Howell.
Andrew Hacker was 2-for-3 for the Eagles and Tyler Hoffman was 2-for-2 with two doubles.
Thursday afternoon, Bridgewater lost to Cal Lutheran by a score of 14-4.
The Eagles loaded the bases in the first, but were able to push across just one run. Nick Fulk led off with a single and, with one out, Jonathan Mason singled to put runners at the corners. Andrew Hacker walked to load the bases and Ryan Smith followed with a run-scoring single for a 1-0 Bridgewater lead.
The Kingsmen answered with four runs on five hits in the bottom of the first inning against Bridgewater starter Mark Smith. The big hit was a three-run homer by Nick Boggan.
The Eagles got one run back in the top of the third when Mason singled, stole second and scored on a single by Ryan Smith to cut the margin to 4-2.
Cal Lutheran responded with a big bottom of the third as six hits and a pair of Bridgewater errors led to seven runs and an 11-2 lead.
Bridgewater scored its final two runs in the fourth, one on a solo homer by Brandon Stein.
The Eagles, now 10-5 on the season, return to action Sunday at home when they host Emory & Henry in an ODAC doubleheader.
