Box Score LYNCHBURG, Va. – Randolph College, ranked No. 15 in Division III, scored all of its goals in the first half Saturday evening to defeat Bridgewater College, 3-0, in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) men's soccer action.
Despite the loss, the Eagles clinched a spot in the upcoming ODAC tournament. With Guilford and Randolph-Macon both losing on Saturday, Bridgewater will be seeded no lower than seventh for the upcoming tournament.
The conference-leading WildCats (14-1-1, 9-1 in the ODAC) controlled play, holding a 38-10 edge in shots and a 11-3 advantage in corner kicks. Randolph put 21 shots on frame during the contest compared to four shots on goal by the Eagles.
Jacob Hood booted a rebound into the net in the 16th minute to put Randolph on the board and an unassisted goal in the 23rd minute by John Adams made the score 2-0.
Randolph's final score came off a corner when Blake Heatherly's shot went off keeper Kevin Morris' hands for a goal, making the score 3-0.
Morris played the first half and allowed the three goals while making 13 saves. Frank Simme played the second half in goal for the Eagles and recorded five saves.
Ricky Capuano had two of Bridgewater's four shots on goal.
Bridgewater is now 7-7-3 overall and 4-4-2 in the ODAC. The Eagles close out the regular season on Tuesday when they travel to Emory & Henry for a 5 p.m. start.
