Box Score WINCHESTER, Va. - Bridgewater College and Shenandoah University played to a 2-2 tie Wednesday evening in ODAC women's soccer action.
Wednesday marked the third consecutive time that the Eagles have made the trip to Shentel Stadium and left with a tie on their record.
Bridgewater scored first as its early pressure on the Shenandoah defense paid dividends.
The Eagles took a corner which led to a strong shot from Krissy Snyder. Hornets keeper Nichole Pratt made the save, but the Eagles stayed on the offensive after possessing the rebound. Snyder centered the ball to Ashley Crossman and her header found the back of the net for a 1-0 BC lead at the 12:25 mark.
The lead didn't last long as the Eagles were whistled for a handball in the box, leading to a penalty kick for the Hornets. Hannah Oakes' shot to the upper left corner of the goal was just out of reach for BC goalkeeper Chelsea Steele as the Hornets tied the contest at 1-1 at the 15:40 mark.
Bridgewater regained the lead later in the half when Jacey Kelley lined a shot past the keeper from 20 yards out for a 2-1 Eagles lead in the 33rd minute.
Once again, the Hornets retaliated with a quick response, this time when Brittany Butcher scored off an assist from Courtney Stull to tie the score at 2-2 in the 35th minute of play.
The teams then played 75 minutes of scoreless soccer to end deadlocked at 2-2. The Eagles had several chances following intermission as they held an 11-5 edge in shots in the second half and two overtime periods.
Steele finished with three saves for the Eagles while Pratt had five saves for Shenandoah.
Bridgewater is now 5-2-1 overall and 2-0-1 in the ODAC. Shenandoah is 2-5-1, 0-1-1 in the ODAC.
The Eagles return to action Saturday afternoon when they host Emory & Henry in ODAC action. Game time is 4:00 p.m.
