EMORY, Va. - In an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) women's tennis match on the road, the Bridgewater Eagles women's tennis team shutout the host Wasps of Emory & Henry by a 9-0 score.
Bridgewater got things started at number one doubles when the tandem of Katie Gordon and Katy Bergey claimed an 8-1 victory.
The duo of Brittany Wilson and Olivia Stone claimed an 8-2 win at number two before seniors Ally McConaughy and Emily Schweitzer posted an 8-0 shutout win at number three to keep the Eagles unblemished through doubles action.
At number one singles, Gordon claimed a 6-0, 6-0 straight sets shutout victory while Bergey matched Gordon with an identical 6-0, 6-0 win at number two.
Wilson claimed the first set by a 6-0 margin before picking up set two by a 6-2 tally to notch the win at number three, propelling the Eagles to a 6-0 lead.
Schweitzer notched a 6-0, 6-1 win at number four while Stone picked up a 6-0, 6-0 win at number five to keep the Eagles rolling.
At number six, McConaughy notched a 6-0, 6-0 victory to close out the match, handing the Eagles an easy 9-0 victory on the road.
Bridgewater is back in action on April 13 when it hosts Roanoke. Start time is set for 4 p.m.
