ASHLAND, Va. – In an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) women's tennis matchup at Randolph-Macon, the Bridgewater Eagles controlled play en route to a dominating 9-0 victory over the Yellow Jackets.
The duo of Katy Bergey and Katie Gordon got things started at number one doubles with an 8-0 victory to put the Eagles ahead early before the pair of Brittany Wilson and Olivia Stone claimed an 8-1 triumph at number two.
Seniors Emily Schweitzer and Ally McConaughy kept things rolling for the Eagles with an 8-1 win at number three to hand Bridgewater a 3-0 lead after doubles play.
Gordon and Bergey turned in identical 6-1, 6-0 wins at number one and two singles, respectively, to seal the victory for the Eagles before Wilson claimed a 6-3, 6-0 win at number three.
Schweitzer was a 6-0, 6-1 winner at number four, while Stone claimed a 6-2, 6-2 win in action at number five.
McConaughy rounded out the shutout win for the Eagles with an easy straight sets win at number six, winning by a 6-0, 6-0 tally.
The Eagles are in action on Wednesday afternoon when they do battle with Hollins. Start time is set for 3 p.m. in the 2012 home opener for the Bridgewater women.
