BRIDGEWATER, Va. – Bridgewater College held Hollins without a shot attempt and the Eagles went on to take 6-0 victory Tuesday afternoon in ODAC action.
Krissy Snyder put the Eagles on the board when her shot from the right side fit just inside the near post for a 1-0 lead in the 11th minute.
The Eagles tallied again when Mari Marotta scored off an assist from Nikole Blackwell in the 23rd minute to make the score 2-0.
Bridgewater made it 3-0 when Melanie Waters redirected a shot by Blackwell past the goalie and into the net in the 31st minute of play.
The Eagles added one more goal in the opening half when Blackwell put a pass on Waters' foot and the BC junior scored from the right side from 12 yards out for a 4-0 Bridgewater lead.
Bridgewater scored again early in the second half when Abby Dehoff headed in a crossing pass from Snyder, making the score 5-0.
The Eagles final score came in the 80th minute when Erin Holden headed in Rachel Woods' corner kick for the final 6-0 margin.
Three Bridgewater goalies – Krista Kelly, Lindsey McDole and Taylor Riley – split minutes in goal to share the shutout.
Hollins goalkeeper Brandi Chesne faced 37 shots and finished with 12 saves.
The Eagles, now 8-3-1 overall and 5-1-1 in the conference, return to action Saturday morning when they face perennial ODAC power Lynchburg. Game time is set for 11 a.m.
