GREENSBORO, N.C. – Behind a clean sweep of the singles matches, the Bridgewater Eagles women's tennis team defeated host Guilford by an 8-1 score in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference showdown.
Bridgewater took two of three doubles matches to start the day off with a 2-1 lead over the host Quakers.
At number one doubles, freshmen Katie Gordon and Katy Bergey were victorious by an 8-0 tally, while the tandem of Morgan McGhee and Brittany Wilson were 8-5 winners at number three.
In singles action, Gordon was a 7-5, 6-1 winner at number one, before Bergey won a 6-0, 7-5 matchup at number two.
Junior Ally McConaughy was a 7-6, 6-2 winner in a tight matchup at number three, while McGhee took home a three-set victory at number four by a 6-3, 2-6, 10-8 margin.
Finally, Wilson was a 6-4, 6-3 winner at number five and sophomore Amanda Gorby was a 6-2, 6-0 victor at number six.
The lone loss on the day came at number two doubles when McConaughy and teammate Emily Schweitzer dropped an 8-4 matchup.
Bridgewater is back in action on March 8 when the team takes on Olivet in Hilton Head, S.C.
