LYNCHBURG, Va. - Blake Stokely drew a
bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the 10th inning Friday to
eliminate Virginia Wesleyan, 2-1, at the ODAC Baseball tournament
being played at City Stadium.
With the victory, the Eagles advance to Friday action where they
will play Randolph-Macon in an elimination game at 3:00 p.m.
Randolph-Macon defeated Washington and Lee 15-3 on Friday.
With two outs in the 10th, Kevin Kirk singled and moved to
third on a single by Brett Howell. Andy Chrismer was hit by a
pitch to load the bases and Stokely walked to force home the
winning run.
Alex Foltz and Kevin Chandler
combined to hold the Marlins to just one run. Foltz worked 7.1
innings, allowing just one run in the seventh. He struck out eight
and walked three. Chandler finished up with 2.2 scoreless innings
to pick up the victory. He struck out two and walked one.
The Eagles scored in the second when Stokely doubled and crossed
the plate on a single by Mitchell Edwards.
Foltz held the lead until the seventh when the Marlins tied the
score on Josh Miller's single. Foltz struck out Mike McCutcheon
looking at a third strike to leave the bases full.
The Eagles finished with 10 hits. Stokely, Edwards and Drew Easter each had two
hits.
