Box Score FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - The University of Mary
Washington baseball team jumped out to a 3-0 after five innings
Wednesday and held on to defeat Bridgewater College, 3-2, in
non-conference baseball action.
It was a staff outing for BC as eight pitchers saw action for
one inning each and combined to limit Mary Washington to just three
runs on 10 hits. John Bayse, Chris Baird, Christian Armstrong, Alex
Foltz and Andrew Hacker each pitched one scoreless inning for BC.
Mary Washington scored single runs in the third, fourth and
fifth innings to take a 3-0 lead.
The Eagles rallied in the eight to pull within one run. Devon
Snow walked to lead off the inning and moved to second on an
infield out. With two outs, Mitchell Edwards doubled to score Snow,
putting the Eagles on the board. Andy Chrismer then singled home
Edwards with Chrismer taking second on the throw to the plate. With
the tying run in scoring position, Brett Howell grounded out to
third to end the inning.
Bridgewater was unable to mount a threat in the ninth as they
went downn in order.
Edwards and Chrismer had two hits apiece to pace BC's offense.
For Mary Washington, Eric Rehbein pitched 7.2 innings to pick up
the victory. He allowed two runs on eight hits while striking out
three and walking two. Nick Corbin worked the final 1.1 innings to
pick up the save.
Bridgewater is now 9-11 on the season. BC is back in action
Thursday when the Eagles host Ferrum in non-conference action.
