BRIDGEWATER, Va. – Washington and Lee
(11-3, 9-0 ODAC) swept singles and doubles play this afternoon at
the Bridgewater Tennis Courts as the Generals defeated the
Bridgewater Eagles (3-5, 1-2 ODAC) by a 9-0 score in ODAC
women's tennis action.
In singles action, Bridgewater was able to take a number of
games against the Generals as senior Megan Mathias took two games
at top flight singles in a 6-1, 6-1 loss to Blair Brzeski.
At number two singles, Olivia Stone fell in 6-0, 6-2 fashion,
while Alissa Michael kept the first set close before eventually
falling by a 6-4, 6-0 score at number three.
Morgan McGhee and Ally McConaughy were swept by identical 6-0,
6-0 scores at number four and five before Amanda Gorby took four
games at number six in a 6-1, 6-3 loss to Katie Harris.
In doubles play, Mathias and Michael came the closest to
victory, falling by an 8-4 tally.
The tandem of McConaughy and Schweitzer saw defeat for the first
time this Spring, falling by an 8-2 score at number three doubles.
Bridgewater is back in action on Saturday when the squad hosts
Guilford.
