ASHLAND, Va. - Behind a dominating effort in
singles play and a clean sweep in doubles action, the Bridgewater
Eagles (3-4, 1-1 ODAC) women's tennis team picked up a solid 8-1
victory on the road at Randolph-Macon.
Senior Megan Mathias won her third match of her last four,
taking down Martha Vlahakis by a 6-4, 6-2 score in top flight
singles action.
At number two and three, Olivia Stone and Morgan McGhee each
were victorious, while Amanda Gorby and Emily Schweitzer were
winners at numbers five and six.
Randolph-Macon (1-5, 1-5 ODAC) got its lone win of the day at
number four singles as Sarah Rainey topped BC's Ally McConaughy by
a 6-0, 6-2 score.
The tandem of Ally McConaughy and Emily Schweitzer remained
unbeaten in doubles play in 2010 with an impressive 8-2 victory in
their first appearance at number two doubles as the Eagles swept
the doubles points.
Bridgewater is back in action, tomorrow, Wednesday March 17 when
the squad hosts Washington and Lee. Action with the Generals is
slated for a 4:00 p.m. start.
