BRIDGEWATER, Va. - On a cold and windy
afternoon, the Bridgewater Eagles men's tennis team fired on all
cylinders en route to a 9-0 victory over Virginia Wesleyan in the
2010 spring season opener.
Senior Chris Radke got the Eagles off on the right foot with a
hard fought 7, 5, 4-6 (10-7) victory at number one singles.
Newcomer Peter Hawkins took down Zac Bartley in straight sets
by identical 6-3 tallies at number two, while Brad DeWitt did
easy work of Donnie Greathouse at number three by a 6-0, 6-1 score.
Teddy Callow picked up the 6-1, 6-2 victory at number four,
Brent Floyd was victorious at number five by a 6-0, 6-1 score,
while Martin Donaire rounded things out for the Eagles with a solid
6-1, 6-0 victory at number six.
In doubles action, Radke and DeWitt teamed up to score an 8-1
victory at number one.
The combination of Callow and Hawkins won at number two by the
same 8-1 tally, while Floyd and Donaire won easily at number three
by an 8-0 margin.
Bridgewater's men are back in action on Wednesday when the squad
heads up I-81 for a showdown with Shenandoah.
