Box Score SALEM, Va. - Bridgewater's season came to an
end Friday afternoon with a.n 87-67 loss to nationally-ranked
Eastern Mennonite in the ODAC quarterfinals at the Salem Civic
Center.
The Eagles stayed within striking distance for the first 20
minutes.
With 8:43 left in the first half, a jumper by Dominic Trawick
tied the score at 20-20. EMU then used a 9-0 run to lead 29-20 with
5:58 left.
The Eagles responded and pulled to within three, 34-31, on a
layup by Kordero Thompson with 1:36 left, but the Royals scored the
final five points of the half to lead 38-30 at the break.
EMU carried the momentum into the second half, outscoring BC
19-8 in the first five minutes of the second half to open up a
20-point lead.
Trawick led the Eagles with 19 points, finishing his caeer in
fifth place on the Eagles all-time scoring chart. Jake Johnson was
the only other BC player in double figures with 10,
All five EMU starters scored in double figures, led by Eli
Crawford's 21 points. George Johnson scored 17 and Todd Phiilips
added 16. Orie Pancione and D.J. Hinson scored 10 apiece.
EMu shot 45 percent from the field, including 48.1 percent in
the second half.
The Eagles' inability to put the ball in the hole, especially in
the second half, led to their downfall. BC shot just 28.6 percent
in the second half and finished at 33.8 percent.
The teams finished dead even on the boards with 43 apiece.
Crawford completed a double-double with 12 boards while Thompson
led the Eagles with eight rebounds.
