SALEM, Va. - It's hard to beat a team three times in one season. That adage rang true as the Virginia Wesleyan Marlins used a 26-7 run in the first half to put Bridgewater in a hole it couldn't dig out of as the Eagles fell by a 64-46 score in the ODAC Quarterfinals at the Salem Civic Center.

Virginia Wesleyan came out on fire from the field while the Eagles struggled from the floor.

 At the game's onset, the Marlins completely stunned the Eagles, forcing numerous Eagles miscues en route to jumping out to a 12-7 lead early.

Virginia Wesleyan started the game on a 17-7 run over the first six and a half minutes of the game as the Eagles were ice-cold from the field.

Bridgewater's woes would continue as the Marlins stretched their lead to a 26-7 margin with under seven and a half minutes to play in the opening half. BC started the game 3-of-17 from the field and gave the ball away eight times to give Virginia Wesleyan the early advantage.

Freshman Jessica Mullen ended a seven-plus minute scoring drought to bring the game to a 26-9 margin, before the Marlins answered on the next possession to push the game to a 28-9 margin with under seven left in the opening stanza.

Bridgewater's offense showed a semblance of life as the defensive intensity picked up, forcing numerous Marlins turnovers over the final minutes of the half, but the Eagles still trailed heading to the intermission by a 33-18 score.

In the opening half, the Eagles shot at a 26% clip from the field, while the Marlins were 48%, Bridgewater committed 13 turnovers in the opening 20 minutes.  

Two freshmen, Mullen and Jackie Buckley led the Eagles in the first half with four points a piece.

Bridgewater struck first and brought the Virginia Wesleyan lead to as low as 35-24 before turnover woes turned into back-to-back Marlin buckets to put the score at 39-24 with 16 and change left.

Virginia Wesleyan's defense continued to stump the Eagles, forcing a BC timeout with 13:50 with the Marlins leading by a 41-25 margin.

The Marlins swarming defense continued to keep the Eagles at bay, before a 18-7 Virginia Wesleyan run gave the Marlins their biggest lead of the day at a 59-32 tally with under eight to play.

Bridgewater outpaced the Marlins down the stretch but it would be too little, too late as the Eagles fell by a 64-46 score to the Marlins.

Logan led the Eagles with a dozen points, while Buckley chipped in six.

On the glass, Booker pulled down a team-high eight rebounds to pace the Eagles.

Tonia Jones led the Marlins offensively with an 18 point outing. ODAC Scholar-Athlete of the Year Maggie Davis paced the Marlins on the glass with 10 boards.

Virginia Wesleyan shot at a 42% clip from the field while the Eagles finished the game shooting 27% from the floor.

Bridgewater ends the season with a 17-9 record.
