Box Score BRIDGEWATER, Va. – Senior Kristin
Bosserman netted a game-high 15 points to lead the Bridgewater
Eagles (14-7, 10-6 ODAC) women's basketball squad to a 69-45
victory over the Randolph WildCats in Old Dominion Athletic
Conference (ODAC) action at Nininger Hall.
Bridgewater fell behind the WildCats by a 7-2 tally early,
forcing Eagles mentor Jean Willi to call an early timeout.
Following the timeout, Bridgewater forced a trio of Randolph
(3-18, 2-15 ODAC) turnovers that turned into a 9-0 Eagles run as BC
took an 11-7 lead with 14:24 off of a layup from freshman Jackie
Buckley.
With 10:05 to play, Randolph tied the game up for a second time
when a Lauren French jumper found cotton, knotting the game at 13
apiece.
The remainder of the first half was all Bridgewater as the
Eagles ended the first stanza on a 22-6 run to take a 35-19
halftime advantage. Bosserman led all scorers in the opening half
with a dozen.
After the intermission, the two teams traded buckets to make the
score 37-21 before a 13-6 Eagles spurt gave Bridgewater a 50-27
advantage with 13:36 to play.
Randolph was able to get the BC lead below 20 at a 56-37 score
with seven and a half remaining but it was Bridgewater scoring 13
of the game's final 21 points to pull away to a 69-45 victory
over the visiting WildCats.
Bosserman's 15 led the way for the Eagles, while Emileigh
Lambert chipped in 10 points. Junior Jordan Burkholder was held to
seven points on the afternoon, marking the first time in nine games
that the Bridgewater, Va. native was held to under 10 points.
On the glass, Buckley's six boards led the way for the
Eagles, who were outrebounded by the WildCats by a slim 36-to-34
margin.
Randolph guard Katie Rechnitzer led the way for the WildCats
with 17 points, while teammate Lindsay Cross turned in a
double-double performance with 10 points and a game-high 14 boards.
Bridgewater owned a 20-to-0 edge in fast break points, while the
Eagles bench outscored the Randolph bench by a 38-to-2 tally.
The game was Bridgewater's WBCA PinkZone contest to raise
funds for the Kay Yow Breast Cancer Research Fund.
Bridgewater is back in action tomorrow, Sunday, February 14 for
a Valentine's Day clash with Emory & Henry. Tip time from
Emory & Henry is slated for 3:00 p.m. in a game rescheduled
from February 7.
