BRIDGEWATER, Va. – At the team's last home game against Virginia Wesleyan, the Bridgewater Eagles women's basketball team took time out to think of someone less fortunate as the holiday season approaches.
Following a fantastic turnout, the Eagles collected 125 gifts, which were donated to the Rockingham/Harrisonburg United Way as part of the team's annual toy drive event.
"It's really important for the girls to help out someone who is less fortunate at any time, but especially in the holiday season. We had a fantastic turnout and we hope that it puts a smile on the face of some area kids," said head coach Jean Willi.
The donations included several bikes, and a variety of other items which will make the Christmas of a local child in need a little brighter.
Bridgewater is back in action over the weekend when the team travels to Fort Lauderdale, Fla. For the Cruzin' Classic.
