Box Score 2 ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. - Bridgewater College lost both matches Saturday at the Seahawk Invitational, falling to Salisbury in three games and Davis & Elkins in five.
Salsibury defeated the Eagles 29-27, 25-21, 25-18.
Katie Baker (Strasburg, Va./Strasburg) and Katie Long (Floyd, Va./Floyd County) shared the kills lead with eight each. Lindsay Kallam (Virginia Beach, Va./Princess Anne) paced the team in assists with 22 and digs with 16. Candice Guy (Fishersville, Va./Wilson Memorial) had 14 digs and Casey O'Leary (Quinton, Va./New Kent) added 13 digs and four aces.
Bridgewater took Division II Davis & Elkins to the limit before falling five. D&E took the first game 25-15, but the Eagles knotted the match with a 25-21 win in Game 2 and then took the lead with a 25-23 win in Game 3. D&E tied the match, winning 25-18 in Game 4 before winning the deciding fifth game 15-11.
Long knocked down 16 kills against D&E and Baker added nine kills and four blocks. Kallam dished out 43 assists while O'Leary and Mara Hogan (Bridgewater, Va./Turner Ashby) served three aces each.
Defensively, O'Leary paced the team in digs with 27 while Guy added 19 and Kai-Lynn Stoker (Potomac, Md./Jack Britt) finished with 18.
The Eagles are now 15-17 and will play again Friday, Nov. 5, in the quarterfinals of the ODAC tournament at Hollins University.
