Box Score BRIDGEWATER, Va. – After taking a 33-22
lead into the locker room, the Bridgewater Eagles used a 17-7 run
to start the second half to break the game wide open en route to
defeating Lynchburg 74-60 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference
(ODAC) Action at Nininger Hall.
Both teams traded buckets for the game's first six and
half minutes before a layup from junior Emileigh Lambert sparked a
10-0 BC run to give the Eagles an 18-9 lead with 8:35 to play in
the opening stanza.
Lynchburg chipped away at Bridgewater's lead over the next
two minutes, bringing the Eagles' advantage to three at a
19-16 tally, before Bridgewater netted 14 of the half's final
20 points to take a 33-22 lead into the locker room.
Junior Jordan Burkholder netted eight points in the first half
to lead all scorers.
Out of the locker room, it was Bridgewater putting the foot on the
gas pedal early with a game-changing 17-7 run as the Eagles held a
50-29 lead with 13:40 to play.
Down 21, Lynchburg used a 7-0 run to bring the game to a
manageable 14 point difference with 11:34 to play at a 50-36.
Both teams would again trade buckets over the course of the next
five minutes, before the Eagles built a 61-39 lead with 7:51 off of
a pair of Bianca Booker free throws to build the lead to a
game-high 22 points.
Lynchburg outscored Bridgewater by eight points down the stretch
but it wasn't enough as the Eagles defeated Lynchburg at
Nininger Hall by a 74-60 tally to give BC it's third win in a
row and fourth in its last five.
Burkholder lead a trio of BC scorers in double figures with a
game-high 21. Senior Kristin Bosserman also chipped in 14, while
Lambert pitched in 10. Lambert led BC on the glass with eight
boards.
Lynchburg was led by a double-double performance 15 point-13
rebound performance.
Bridgewater was outrebounded by Lynchburg by a slim 37-36 margin.
BC forced 30 Lynchburg turnovers while committing 28 of its own.
Bridgewater is back in action on Friday, January 15 when the
squad head to Hollins. Tip-off from Hollins is slated for 7:00 p.m.
Following the short road trip the Eagles return to Nininger Hall
for Saturday afternoon's White Out. . The first 50 students
arriving prior to the start of both the men's and
women's basketball games and the will receive an official
white out T-shirt for free.
