Bridgewater College split its doubleheader on Saturday against
Lynchburg College, winning the opener 5-0 and losing the second
game 4-3 in 10 innings.
Casey Hartman hurled a masterpiece in the opener, pitching the
complete game shutout. Hartman allowed just five hits while
striking out five and walking two.
Andy Chrismer delivered the big blow with a three-run homer in the
third that broke open a scoreless game.
The Eagles took a 3-1 lead into the eighth in the second game, but
the Hornets tied the score with two runs, one of those unearned to
tie the score.
The Hornets pushed across the winning run in the 10th on Jordan
Watkins' RBI-single. That run was also unearned.
BC freshman Kevin Chandler pitched eight strong innings. He allowed
three runs, two earned, on six base hits. He struck out one and did
not walk a batter.
The Eagles are now 21-15 overall and finish the ODAC portion of the
schedule with an 11-7 record.
Seedings for the upcoming ODAC tournament will be announced
following the completion of regular season play.
