Bridgewater College rallied from an early 5-2 deficit Monday to
defeat Averett, 9-8, in non-conference action.
Trailing 5-2, the Eagles evened the score in the third on a two-run
homer by Mike Lenox and a solo shot by Andy Chrismer.
Averett regained the lead with two runs in the fourth, but the
Eagles responded with two in the bottom of the inning on
RBI-singles by Lenox and Kevin Kirk.
The Eagles took the lead in the sixth on a run-scoring double by
Brett Howell and added an unearned run in the eighth to lead
9-7.
Jake Wade pitched three hitless innings in relief to pick up the
victory. Lenox recorded the save, allowing one run in the final two
innings.
Lenox also led the offense, going 4-for-5 three RBIs. Aaron Read
added three hits while Howell, Tyler Hodges and Mitchell Edwards
each contributed two hits.
The Eagles are now 19-14 on the season.
