Laura Norris scored four goals Saturday afternoon to lead
Virginia Wesleyan College to a 15-7 victory over the Bridgewater
College Eagles in ODAC lacrosse action.
The Marlins jumped out to an 8-1 lead but the Eagles closed the
first half with a 3-0 spurt to close the gap. Leslie Crawford
scored two goals and Sarah Bursey found the net with just 12
seconds left, pulling the Eagles to within 8-4 at the half.
Bridgewater tallied first in the second half with Erin Crawford
scoring off an assist from Crawford, pulling the Eagles closer at
8-5, but the Marlins answered with two quick goals to lead
10-5.
Noelle Najjar scored for the Eagles off an assist from Crawford to
make the score 10-6 before the Marlins outscored BC 5-1 over the
final 18 minutes to pull away for the victory.
BC goalkeeper Colleen Schwind faced 42 shots and finished the
contest with 21 saves.
The Eagles are now 0-3 overall and 0-2 in the ODAC. Virginia
Wesleyan is 2-0 in the ODAC and 2-2 overall.
