BRIDGEWATER, Va. - The Bridgewater College
women's soccer team improved to 12-4-1 overall and 6-3 in the ODAC
with a 7-1 victory Wednesdsay over Hollins University.
With the victory, the Eagles tied the program record for most
wins in a season with 12. The 2000 team finished with a 12-5-1
record.
Hollins scored the first goal of Wednesday' game when Sara Poole
found the upper right corner of the net at the 5:03 mark.
The Eagles tied the score when Caroline Banks scored off an
assist from Brittney Harris at the 12:40 mark. Bridgewater then
took the lead when Krista Ready scored off Harris' second assist at
the 17:25 mark for a 2-1 BC lead.
Ready's goal was her first of three on the day. Ready now has 24
career goals, just one behind Diana Bolard for third place on the
BC career goals list.
After Ready's first goal, Harris scored off a pass from Abby
Dehoff for a 3-1 BC lead. Ready then scored her second goal with
Dehoff getting her second assist, making the score 4-1.
Sara Taylor scored the next two goals, with assists going to
Sophie Thomas and Jacey Kelley, to close out the first half
scoring.
Ready completed her hat trick early in the second half off a
perfect pass from Courtney Dearing, making the final score 7-1.
The Eagles held a 22-5 edge in shots, including a 15-5 margin in
shots on goal.
Bridgewater will get its first chance to set a new program
record for wins on Saturday when the Eagles travel to Randolph
College for a 1:00 p.m. contest.
