Bridgewater College pulled away in the second half Tuesday night to defeat Averett, 52-39, in non-conference women's basketball action. The victory was the first of the season for the Eagles, now 1-2 overall.

The two teams combined for 66 turnovers with the Eagles forcing Averett into 36 turnovers. The Eagles shot 39.5 percent from the floor while holding the Cougars to just 26.9 percent shooting. Averett dominated the boards by a 42-28 margin over the Eagles, 42-28. Rebecca Henderson led BC with eight rebounds.

Jordan Burkholder paced the Eagles with 13 points and Jennifer Saunders added 11. Ashley Washington scored 16 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead the Cougars.
