Box Score LYNCHBURG, Va. - Lynchburg College advanced to the semifinals of the ODAC women's soccer tournament with a 2-0 victory Wednesday over the Bridgewater College Eagles.
The nationally-ranked Hornets controlled play early, but the Eagles defense remained solid and kept the game scoreless until the 33rd minute.
Lynchburg broke through the Eagles defense when Kennedy Jakubek beat her defender and sent a pass into the box where her teammate Alyssa Rudy finished with the goal for a 1-0 Hornets lead.
The lead remained 1-0 until the Hornets added an insurance goal in the 62nd minute. Emily Sanchez sent a through ball to Camille Bartley and Bartley beat the keeper to the near post, making the score 2-0.
Lynchburg's defense kept the Eagles in check throughout the game, allowing just three shots. Anna Sobus had two shots and Sarah Brennan had the Eagles' lone shot on goal.
Bridgewater keeper Hayley Talbott faced 30 shots and finished with 11 saves.
The Eagles finish the 2016 season with a 13-5-1 record.
